Obama, This is my pledge to you

Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 06:37:28 PM PDT

I, _________________, do solemnly swear to do everything within my power to help elect you President of the United States.

I do so, acknowledging that:

  1. You are not the Messiah.
  1. You do not walk on water.
  1. You are not perfect.
  1. You do not have a magic wand.
  1. You are not a rock star.
  1. You are not a super hero.
  1. Sometimes you will disappoint me.

The Difference Between the Candidates

Fri Apr 11, 2008 at 03:58:24 PM PDT

One talks at us as if we are children
The other talks to us as if we are adults

One wants to be President of the "Significant" States of America
The other  wants to be President of the "United" States America

For one, it’s been their campaign to lose
For the other, it’s been their campaign to win

One tells us what she thinks we want to hear
The other tells us what we’ve been waiting to hear

One is using racial divisions for political gain
The other is trying  to bridge the racial divide

One campaign sees nothing wrong with using the politics of fear
The other campaign is powered by hope

BOTH are capable of leading a nation
But only one has inspired a nation

A Letter to Obama, from an Obamacan

Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 05:43:22 PM PDT

This is my very first diary. On February 11, 2008, a friend and I were among the 17,000 who were inspired by Barack Obama at a rally in Baltimore. The morning of the rally, my friend, who is a republican, wrote a letter to Obama, hoping to get close enough to greet him and give him the letter. However, we were seated too far away.

I read my friend’s letter and was truly inspired. And while the Maryland primary has long since passed, her words still ring true. I am sharing this letter, as it is a testament to why Senator Barack Obama should and will be our next president of the United States.
